The unseen assailant attacked Dr. Miranda Jones outside her Maine home as she returned from a busy lecture tour. After terrorizing her with a knife held to her throat, he stole her purse, slashed her tires, and disappeared.

Shaken and bruised, Miranda was determined to put the assault out of her mind, and welcomed the distraction offered by a summons to Italy to verify the authenticity of a Renaissance bronze of a Medici courtesan known as The Dark Lady.

However, instead of cementing Miranda's reputation as a leading authority in her field, the bronze nearly destroys it when her professional judgment is called into question, and the bronze is declared a hoax.

Desperate to restore her credibility and prove The Dark Lady is really a previously unknown work of Michelangelo, Miranda turns to Ryan Boldari, a seductive - and supposedly reformed - art thief. For Miranda, forced to rely on herself and a partner with his own hidden agenda, the only way home is filled with treachery, deception, and a danger that threatens everything she loves.

One of my favorites by one of my favorite authors! Love the descriptions of Florence and the Maine coast, and the hero's family is a hoot! My only issue and the only thing that kept me from giving this 5 star is . ....................SPOLER ALERT!!!!!. .....
............................................................................................................................................................SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!
Last time...SPOILER ALERT!!.....................................................

Having the hero be a thief even in the ultra-cool Cary Grant school of thieves simply didn't sit well with me and my accursed Sunday School upbringing. I couldn't get over the morality of the issue, and kept thinking of the people he stole from and why they should matter less than the people he stole for. ... Petty yes, but what can you do? (If you read the book you'll get that!)

Other than that, this is a great book !

Homeport (Audible Audio Edition) Nora Roberts Erika Leigh Brilliance Audio Books Reviews

I love almost everything Nora Roberts writes. Her mysteries is what I enjoy the most. This was a very good book. I enjoyed the surprises in it and it was not the who dune it that you would think it was. I highly recommend this book.
Fans of Nora Roberts will not be surprised at how much they will enjoy "HOMEPORT". It is Ms. Roberts at her best. Detailed without being tedious, we are brought into the world of priceless art , theft, and forgery. Dr. Miranda Jones and Ryan Boldari are a match made in heaven; feisty, witty, sharp, and falling desperately in love with the turn of every page. Nora Roberts has long been a favorite, and I eagerly await each release. Not only will you find the escapism most often sought in romantic fiction, but an educating overview of the various subject matters that form the bases of her novels. She gives her reader the chance to slip into the character's world, and watch the story unfold. HOMEPORT does what all Nora Roberts books do... keep you hanging for the next volume to hit the shelves ! THANKS NORA !!!
It took a little longer to get completely hooked on this book but, as usual, it soon became one that I couldn't put down. Great characters, super story line. Thoroughly satisfying.
I love Nora Roberts' books. I've read most of them and have never been disappointed.

Homeport is the story of Miranda Jones and Ryan Boldari. Miranda works in the family art business. She is a renowned specialist in being able to take art pieces and determining how old they are. Ryan is a thief, a very good one, that comes in to Miranda's life when he steals a piece from her Institute only to find out it's a fake. Miranda's reputation has already taken a hit because a piece of art she confirmed to be real was also discovered to be fake.

As the two work together, they realize that there are too many coincidences between the two pieces being fake to be ignored. People close to Miranda are murdered and they both start to realize that they are falling for each other.

The dialogue is great, the story moves at the right pace. Miranda more than holds her own with Ryan. Ryan is slowly able to break through the barriers Miranda has set up. The ending wasn't what I expected which was a good thing for me. I don't like figuring things out too early in a book, it doesn't make the story as interesting. I highly recommend it!
This mystery/love story is one of the best ones I have read in a long time. The storyline kept you wanting to continually keep reading and not putting the book down. The characters were not easy to keep up with and follow, therefore, keeping me in suspense and hoping the main characters would find their way towards a finale that would have a happy ending.
One of my favorite Nora Roberts novels. I just reread it and it is still good after all these years. It has suspense and likable, clever characters and characters you may not like but feel as if they are real people. It is set in New England and Italy and you learn something about both places, and about Renaissance art without being bored with overly long descriptions. It is set in modern times.
I’m really surprised at how somehow I’ve never read this book before now and if I did I totally didn’t remember it. I actually have to say I really enjoyed this book. I had read the sample a couple years ago and just wasn’t interested enough to buy it. Then last week I decided to reread the sample and give the book a chance. I couldn’t put it down.. I found myself even reading while I was cooking. I read some of the reviews on the male character Ryan and while I could understand why some of the reviewers were negative on him, I did not agree and find him the same way. I loved him... I actually enjoyed a book where the guy had faults. He was definitely my favorite in the book. I liked Miranda but there were times throughout the book she annoyed the crap out of me. Stupid decisions she made , I won’t give anything away but I will say the way she with held certain things that were happening to her from Ryan drove me crazy. I mean she was sleeping with him but not telling him very important things he might need to know while they were trying to figure out what was going on. As far as the mystery... I figured it out pretty quick into the book. But I still enjoyed it and was well worth the money I paid for it!!
